The Newborn Session is designed for babies 5-21 days old.
I will spend about 2-3 hours photographing your baby and I wouldn't have it any other way! I like to start with family (and sibling) poses and then move on to just baby.
I allow enough time to account for your baby to eat and for those moments when your little one decides its time to make a little mess and we need to clean up.
To keep your baby sleepy and comfortable I utilize white noise, heat and swaddling techniques.
When to book a newborn portrait session:
Please book your newborn session before your baby is born. Many clients choose to reserve their due dates during their second trimester or early in their third. This ensures that space is allotted in my calendar to photograph your baby during the ideal age (between 5 and 10 days old).
As soon as your sweet miracle is born please contact me to arrange your actual session date. It is recommended that clients book newborn sessions as early as possible to ensure availability of dates and avoid disappointment.
Age of newborn:
Your baby will ideally be less than 2 weeks old. During short period of time, babies are very sleepy, easily posed, less fussy, and have become accustomed to nursing. As newborns get older (10+ days), they tend to be more challenging to pose and settle, may develop baby acne, and have more wake periods. For these reasons, it is important that the newborn session be scheduled early.
All newborn sessions will take place inside my home studio in Greenville on a Wednesday or Friday at 10am. Dawn will provide everything needed for your session: blankets, wraps, buckets, headbands, and other accessories so there is no need to worry about outfits or anything at all. If you have any special requests or family heirlooms you would like incorporated in the photo, I will do my best to accommodate.
I always take my time with newborns and never rush a session. I always follow the cues of your baby, which can be unpredictable. I allow up to 3 hrs to complete the session. Much of that time is used for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing the baby.
